Summoning autumn with a Supernatural Latte
Summoning the natural-process spirit of last year’s Supernatural, we conjured a new light roast blend with a chocolatey, fruity, Halloween candy profile. In the same vein, the Supernatural Latte is bursting with marshmallow pastels and flavors reminiscent of Monster Cereals (Count Chocula was my favorite). Finished with a magical sparkle, this latte is anything but demure.
Don’t let its dazzling aesthetic fool you – it’s pretty simple to make:
Ingredients (makes 1 latte)
- Supernatural, ground for espresso (or AeroPress)
- Edible glitter sprinkles and luster dust (make sure they’re FDA-approved like Fancy Sprinkles)
- 6 ounces vanilla oat milk
- ½ tbsp butterfly pea flower powder
- Honey or agave for rim
Instructions
- Rim the cup:
- Line the cup rim with honey or agave.
- Pour the glitter sprinkles on a plate.
- Dip the rim in the sprinkles and twist the cup on the plate until it’s evenly coated.
- Pull a single shot of espresso and add it to the cup (or brew a concentrated 2 ounces in the AeroPress).
- Whisk butterfly pea flower into the oat milk (any remaining clumps will dissolve during steaming).
- Steam milk to create microfoam.
- Sprinkle a thin line of luster dust atop the microfoam, extending from the handle of the milk pitcher to its spout.
- Pour your glittery latte art!
P.S. Try using your leftover pea flower and glitter in a cocktail!
